Parasport Fosters Health, Wellbeing and Inclusiveness

Propel Physiotherapy is incredibly proud to be supporting Anthony Lue for the second year in a row, as he continues his quest to earn a spot on the Canadian Men’s National Paralympic hand-cycling team and qualify for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The sponsorship will help relieve some of the costs of competing a high level, which can include coaching, training, dietitians, equipment, and competition fees and expenses.

Propel Physiotherapy believes everybody should have an opportunity to be physically active regardless of their physical abilities. Parasport has provided a wealth of options for our clients to continue being physically active at the recreational level and all the way up to Paralympic level competition. The inherent inclusiveness works well with Propel’s focus on getting people moving again in the right direction – life in forward motion.

“Anthony always stood out to us for his ability to stay positive and focused in the face of repeated adversity. These skills will be invaluable as he challenges himself to compete at the highest level of athletics, and they will make him successful at anything he does in life,” says Clinic Director Kyle Whaley.

The Pickering-native is a talented athlete’s whose life was forever altered by an accident in 2009, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Through multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation his incredible spirit remained intact. It was not long before Anthony was participating in wheelchair sports, including hand-cycling, which has become his passion.

“The road to Tokyo 2020 will not be easy, but I believe that with the right people supporting me, I can do anything I put my mind to,” says Anthony Lue. “The relationship I developed with the team at Propel Physiotherapy has gone beyond my rehabilitation sessions. They continue to support my goals and help me turn tragedy in triumph.”

Whether being active for fun or focused competition, the range of services Propel Physiotherapy offers can provide athletes and future athletes with the guidance, knowledge and treatment to ensure they are set up for success.

Anthony will compete next at Défi Sportif in Montreal at the end of the month.
